While most experiences at The Shepherds Rest are positive, some feedback points to occasional waiting times during busy peak hours, especially on Fridays, when the capacity reaches its maximum. Some customers also mention that certain dishes might run out during high-demand periods, which could be disappointing if you're craving a specific item from the menu.
Additionally, the beer garden, while loved, can become crowded during sunny weekends, detracting from the serene outdoor experience that many seek. Reservations are recommended during peak times to avoid disappointment as the space fills up quickly.
Called in on a spur of the moment on a Thursday tea time, staff really friendly, food and service was brilliant, decent amount of parking and a large beer garden with plenty for the kids to do , will definitely be back :)
Great stop off during a camping trip. Lovely pub with a nice area for the kids to play. Bonus that the bouncy castle was up so the kids spent hours on there. Food is good. Double smashed burger with cheese was very tasty and came with good chips and a fresh baby leaf salad! Salad was very fresh and not minging like in some places. Also had a nice balsamic glaze too. Good range of beers and cider.
1st time customers and both the good lady and me thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was spot on, really friendly staff. The food (sirloin and Tomahawk steaks) were perfectly cooked. Thrice cooked chips are the best we've tasted for a long time. Definitely going back. Thank you to Sarah and the staff for a lovely experience and see you again soon 😎👍
Homemade shepherds pie 2 weekends ago, best cheesecake I've ever had! Everyone loved the dinner including our toddler! Her favourite and fresh chicken bites from proper chicken and strawberry ice cream! Lovely and cosy pub, with a great outdoor area for young kids.
Went out for a meal and my first visit. Ample free parking and a great garden to sit in with lots of space and play area for kids. Sun was out all evening, which was nice. Visited on a Tuesday steak night, which was great value. I had a mixed grill and prawns to start. Service and food were excellent. It's definitely worth a trip out for food or a drink in the sunshine. Visited again for Sunday carvery, and it was lush. Fresh, well cooked moist meat. Good selection of veg and spuds. Fantastic value.
Went for tea recently, really tasty food and nicely presented. Would like to comment on the coffee.. it was perfect. We have avoided the place in the past as no one seemed to know how to make a decent coffee. This pub will definitely be on our walking route to stop off for a drink.
We went as a family of 5 on 2 different occasions, the food was amazing. The staff was lovely, friendly helpful and chatty.the atmosphere was friendly too. Would recommend anybody to come.
